Intonation was spot on and the action was nice and low, but absolutely no buzzing frets anywhere. In fact I purchased another make and model from them and it didn't suit me, so they shipped this one right out and sent a shipping label to ship the other one back. I am learning 3 finger Scruggs style and this banjo suits that style to a T It is certainly no pre-war Gibson, but compared to everything else I played, this one was the best sound. MORGAN MONROE BANJO MODEL STAMP UPGRADE
I don't see any need to upgrade to a more expensive banjo for a long time. It is a very good sounding banjo that should last years. I got a good deal on the banjo plus a lot of other freebies on E-bay, but even at the normal price I think it's great. I would definitely recommend this banjo without hesitation. They are not bad, but a little touchy in tuning, but once tuned the banjo stays in tune well.
The tuners are probably the weakest part of the banjo. The bridge and tailpiece seem good as well. However banjo seems like it will last a long time.īanjo is heavy and the pot assembly seems to be of good quality. Bought it used, so I believe the warranty is not transferrable. The tuners are a little touchy, but that seems to be only a minor weakness with the banjo. Very nice looking banjo with the headstock and fret board inlay. Definitely brighter and sharper than the Gold Tone Cripple Creek I had. This banjo sounds really good! It has bark and a sharp sound. MORGAN MONROE BANJO MODEL STAMP CRACKED
My first one came cracked bad from shipping. That is probably the only thing I have found about it that I didn't like and that is so minimal. I will eventually sand it down so it quits poking me. The only thing I think is a little cheap is the tailpiece. I believe I have a good warranty on mine - I think it is lifetime. I tried to bid on it in an auction site unseen because I know how great mine is. I am a very happy Morgan Monroe customer and have tried to purchase one more since this one. I dealt with the seller but not Morgan Monroe. I have put many miles on this banjo and it is holding up nicely. I took this to Camp Bluegrass and it worked great for me. It has some little engravings or designs on the armrest.Įverything has lasted so far.
I figured it happened while being shipped. There was a little crack at the 5th string peg but it is hard to see. The action was fine.īeautiful with inlay. We tightened a few things but it was setup for me. Submitted by meritcooper ( see all reviews from this person) on
